Soft tip Display (LCD) Memory switch °C/°F when off On switch only Auto shut-down No off button How does it work?
Using advanced technology the No Touch measures the temperature of the infra-red heat given off by the arterial blood supply under the temple skin and converts this temperature into an oral equivalent temperature.
For your convenience, below are 3 steps to start using your new NO Touch thermometer:
PREPARE : Press and release the 'ON' button, the message 'READY' and the room temperature appears on the display.
A. Place the thermometer's soft tip at a distance up to 2.5cm (1 inch) max, above the left side of the left eyebrow (or the right side of the right eyebrow) and move it up and down as close as possible under the hairline.
B. Scan up and down above this area (shown red/dotted in picture) without touching the skin. The thermometer generates gentle beeps while reading the temperature and a longer beep when measurement is done. Read the temperature on the display. After the temperature is displayed, the thermometer counts down 10 seconds (visible on the display) and is ready for rescan.
For best repeatability, wait at least 2 minutes between two measurements. When not used, the thermometer shuts OFF automatically after 1 minute.
No Touch Technique: A new thermometer which scans the temporal artery without touching the patient is proving popular in infectious disease units. The No Touch Thermometer is fast, non invasive, non-contact and defies cross infection.
A Harvard Medical School study showed the temporal artery thermometer was more accurate than an ear or tympanic thermometer and a rectal thermometer in responding to change in fever. It is also being used in indigenous communities in the Northern Territory as an alternative to the tympanic thermometer which can give an inaccurate reading if patients’ have damaged tympanic membranes, which many do.
Agnes Barsheshet of No Touch Thermometers says there are cost benefits to be gained too. The thermometer is reasonably priced and disposable parts are not required, reducing on-going costs. "Considering a hospital patient has a temperature taken four times a day, the costs using a tympanic thermometer can add up," Barsheshet says. Over a year this can amount to more than $32,000 spent on ear probes for a 200 bed hospital. "Our No Touch Thermometer is very inexpensive, no disposables required, no ongoing costs."
Fresh from its European debut, the No Touch Thermometer is now available in New Zealand and Australia. Providing accurate and fast results, the No Touch Thermometer uses infrared technology to scan the temple from a distance of up to 2.5 cm.
It measures a patient’s arterial blood supply then converts it to an equivalent oral temperature. The No Touch technique makes it hygienic and safe and eliminates cross infection, it also reduces unnecessary waste and cost of probe covers. It also features a room temperature display and eight memory recall and sells for a competitive price. The non invasive technique makes it ideal for dementia units, infectious disease units, operating theatres and maternity units.

1. Avoid taking a measurement for 30 minutes after physical exercise, bathing or eating.
2. The thermometer should be in the room where measurement will take place 20-25 minutes prior to measurement. For best result, the person whose temperature is being taken should be in the room for 5 minutes before the measurement.
3. Prior to taking a temperature clean the temples from sweat, makeup, etc and wait a few minutes before measurement.
4. When pointed at a hot object, the thermometer senses temperature at a distance. To avoid erroneous reading minimise the time from thermometer 'READY' to taking measurement.
5. Avoid direct sunlight, fireplace heat and direct air conditioner flow on the temples while taking temperature.
6. Do not expose the thermometer to extreme temperatures, dust or shock.
